Anterior Lobe (Lobules I–V)
Lobus anterior cerebelli
The sensorimotor anterior lobe of the cerebellum: the first somatotopic map of the trunk and limbs; regulates gait and posture.
Anatomy
- In front of the primary fissure; lobules I–V of the vermis and hemispheres.
- Receives input from the spinal cord (spinocerebellar tracts) and from motor cortex (via the pontine nuclei).
Functions
- Gait, posture and limb coordination.
- The first sensorimotor body map (continuous with lobules V–VI).
Clinical
- Truncal and gait ataxia with damage to the anterior lobe (especially the vermis).
In the model
How this structure is defined in the 3D model, and the data source.
SUIT atlas (Diedrichsen et al., 2009) lobule labels; each point of the cerebellar surface was assigned to the nearest lobule just beneath it. Overlap between SUIT and the model’s cerebellum: Dice 0.90.
